A Christian-run coffee house on Quezon Boulevard, on the ground floor of Good101 Hotel and a two-minute walk from the Black Nazarene. Hours, prices, what to order, and how to find it.

5&2 Coffeehouse is on the ground floor of Good101 Hotel at 512 Quezon Boulevard, about a hundred metres from Quiapo Church. That is an unusual address for a specialty coffee bar. Quiapo is known for the Black Nazarene, for Plaza Miranda, for the herb sellers outside the church and the camera shops along Hidalgo. It is not known for flat whites.

One thing worth stating plainly, because the street name misleads almost everybody: Quezon Boulevard is in the City of Manila, not Quezon City. We are covering this one anyway. It is a genuinely good coffee stop in a district that has very few, and plenty of QC readers find themselves in Quiapo on a Friday.

What it is

The name comes from the five loaves and two fish. It is a Christian-run cafe, and the owners describe it as somewhere to breathe, pray and connect — which in practice means a quiet room with good coffee a short walk from one of the busiest churches in the country. Their Facebook page bills it as the first of its kind in Quiapo.

It holds 4.6 stars from 125 Google reviews, which for a small independent cafe is a solid, believable number rather than a suspicious one.

The menu

Five categories, broadly: specialty coffee, refreshment drinks, pastries, Filipino delis, and pasta. Most orders land between ₱101 and ₱500, and Google files the cafe at its cheapest price tier — which for specialty coffee in Metro Manila is worth knowing.

What reviewers keep mentioning
  • Iced salted caramel — the drink that comes up most often
  • Ube cake with macapuno
  • Inutak, if it is on that day

Delivery runs through foodpanda if you would rather not make the trip.

Hours, and a small clue in them

Monday to Thursday it opens 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Friday to Sunday it stays open until 11:00 PM.

Those two extra hours land exactly on the days Quiapo is busiest. Friday is the day of the Black Nazarene devotions, when the plaza fills and the surrounding streets stay awake late. A 7 AM opening catches the morning Mass crowd at the other end. The hours are built around the church, not around an office lunch rush, and that tells you most of what you need to know about who drinks here.

Getting there

  • From Quiapo Church — 105 metres. You can see the hotel from the plaza.
  • From LRT-1 Carriedo — about 354 metres, five minutes on foot.
  • Plaza Miranda — 123 metres.

Full details, map and hours are on the 5&2 Coffeehouse listing. If you are looking closer to home, we keep a running guide to the best coffee shops in Quezon City.
